Mr. Back is an experienced venture capital and private equity investor with expertise in technology and technology-enabled businesses and investment experience across the lifecycle of the enterprise, from early stage through buyout.
From 2000 to 2006, Mr. Back served as Managing Director and General Partner of the Technology Group at Warburg Pincus LLC, after joining them as Associate in March 1999. During his tenure, Mr. Back led or co-led investments totaling over $700 million in 10 companies. He currently serves on the board of two companies – SRS and The Cobalt Group. In the past, Mr. Back also served as a director of UGS Corp., GlobalSpec, InfoGenesis, and a number of other private companies.
From 1997 – 1998, Mr. Back served as Executive Vice President, Corporate Planning and Business Development at InfoUSA. Prior to that, Mr. Back was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company.
Mr. Back graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Economics from Yale University and holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.
